LETTER FROM THE OWNER
BIG HUGE thanks to all of the members and staff for a great 2019!! This community is what makes this gym so special. I can't thank you enough for your constant support and feel so very blessed to have such a rewarding career.
Special shout out to my staff; we added quite a few trainers and admins in 2019 and they have really stepped up to the plate. I am so lucky to have such a reliable, helpful crew, including our babysitters and cleaning staff. You guys rock!
I have read through all of the annuals surveys and appreciate all of the feedback and suggestions! While I will not be able to implement all of your suggestions, I will do my very best to implement improvements to make this gym an even better place to workout in 2020! I have outlined some of the changes coming in 2020 and also address a few concerns.
We will be making a few class changes and additions. This is due to requests from the survey and also consolidating low attended class times. **NOTE: This is on a trial basis and will change back to the normal schedule if this new schedule is not working for people. **
Em's Fitcamp Changes
Starting 1/6, 9:30 will now be combined with the CrossFit Class and held in the CrossFit room. The class will be around 50 or so minutes. There will be special programming for this style of class. This class will have a fitcamp and crossfit version. The new programming will have a 10 to 12 Minute EMOM in the beginning followed by a longer AMRAP. No accessory as this will be included in the EMOM.

Starting 1/6, 6:30AM Fitcamp will now be a combo fitcamp/beginner CrossFit class. This will be a good introduction for fitcamp people wanting to try out CrossFit. The CrossFit skills learned in this class will be basic lifts followed an AMRAP incorporating the lift you learned during the instruction.
10AM on Sundays will remain as is, but will move to the CrossFit room if class is too large for the Fitcamp Room that day.
Starting 1/6, 8:30AM CrossFit Class addition. Normal CrossFit Programming.

CrossFit Programming Changes
Big thanks to Johnny for helping with the CrossFit Programming the past several years! With my busy schedule, it was such a big help to me. However, with our growing membership across all class types, it is important that I make sure that all classes do not overlap on equipment and space, so it is best to have one person coordinating all programming. I have taken over the CrossFit programming as of today, but will still look to Johnny and other trainers for suggestions.
The entire week of programming will be posted on Sundays now. This will allow people to better coordinate their workout schedule and possibly make up lifts on days they can't be there.
January 6th will kick off week 1 of several lifting cycles. Get ready to max out! After each cycle, I will rotate the lift to a different day for the following cycle. For example, if we do a variation of a squat on Mondays, then the next cycle, squats will be on Tuesdays.
We will have one Skill Day per week starting on Thursday, 1/2. The skill day will also rotate each cycle. For those who are proficient in this skill, we will have an EMOM option to complete while the others who are less proficient will learn from the instructors and practice the skill. We will also have skill contests and will keep track of your progress and leaders on the white boards.
We will be doing the Benchmark Girl WODS every other Tuesday. This will be a great way to track your progress throughout the year.
Some days the accessory will be incorporated into actual class time, especially on the shorter WOD days. Please take part in this on days it is programmed in class and do not rush out after the WOD. Accessory work is a great way to build those smaller muscles that do not get as much focus on the main lifts. Building these smaller muscles can help prevent injury and of course as a bonus, can tone up those muscles as well ;)
While we can't make everyone happy on the programming every day, we do encourage you to check out all 3 class types. You will have the option to choose between not only Fitcamp and CrossFit WODs, but also a combined CrossFit/Fitcamp WODS at 9:30AM and Noon. Hopefully between these 3 options, something will strike your fancy that day :)
App update coming soon! Thanks to Bryan Dunbar, we will soon have the ability to post your max lifts for the day as well as track your progress on all Bench Mark girl WODS. Stay tuned for more info!
Thanks for all of the feedback! The majority of the suggestions were for new wall balls, dumbbells and assault bikes. The annual equipment fee will be $25 for CrossFit members and $10 for Fitcamp Members. This will be included on your January Payment. The CrossFit fees will be used for CrossFit equipment and Fitcamp fees will be used for fitcamp equipment. The Fitcamp fee is less because there is less equipment needed and less wear and tear on the equipment used.
We will be replacing all bad plates and wall balls. We purchased a lot of new dumbbells the week of the competition. We will evaluate all other equipment needs this week. 100% of the equipment fee will be used to buy equipment and it will be purchased within the first week of January.
NOTE: if you made a request for something that the entire class can't use, it will most likely not be purchased. The equipment fee is used for replacement or additions for class equipment. However, all suggestions are noted and it may be purchased at a later date should the budget allow.
OPEN GYM CONCERNS
It has been noted that people participating in class are frustrated with people choosing to do their own programming during class times. The main issues are equipment not being available for class participants and noise during the instruction.
It has also been noted that people participating in open gym feel that their needs are not being met as well due to restraints set by the rules.
I am doing my best to keep everyone happy. I feel that I have been very lenient on allowing people to do their own programming during our class times. In addition to this, we also have MANY actual open gym hours available. There are very few CrossFit gyms out there that allow this. We have been able to do so because the size of our space and want to continue to do so as long as the open gym rules are respected.
OPEN GYM RULES
1) NO ONE IS ALLOWED (INCLUDING TRAINERS) TO BE IN THE BUILDING OUTSIDE OF REGULAR GYM HOURS TO WORKOUT. This is a liability issue and is not covered under my insurance. The entry code has been changed and only staff members with a key may open the building up during regular hours.
2) Please use the weekly posted programming to help you assess what equipment to use as you figure out your workout plan for the week. For example, if the class is using dumbbells and rowing, perhaps choose a WOD that has running and barbells instead.
3) You may use any equipment available as long as everyone in the class has equipment first.
4) Please be respectful of the trainer's instruction. We use the warm ups as a teaching tool to review lifts. There are lots of beginners entering the regular classes each week who need this instruction. Dropping barbells is very distracting to not only the people in the class, but also the instructors. The instructors have the right to stop any open gym distractions.
5) We currently do not have open gym from 7AM - 9AM on Saturdays. However, we will allow people to do this starting this Saturday for a fee of $2/Saturday per person to cover energy costs. The instructor will be in charge of writing your name on the tally sheet to cover your $2 charge. There must also be an instructor available willing to come in and workout with the group. One instructor has committed for most weeks. If the instructor is not available, it will be canceled that day. We will be sure to let you know ahead of time.
As of January 6th, you MUST check your child into babysitting. Stay tuned for more info on this. It will most likely be on the iPads, but may be on paper.
We will be renovating the babysitting room in the spring time. We will be enclosing an area to eliminate access to the cabinets and appliances. We will also be adding flooring and replacing the furniture. We hope to add a ceiling as well so that we can add a stationary AC. More to come on this!
Once the new room is completed, we will be charging an annual babysitting fee of $15/Child. This will go towards the room upgrades and babysitting costs such as the required CPR training to be a sitter.
Thanks again to everyone for being a part of our fit family! I am so excited for 2020! I can't wait to see what the new year brings. Wishing you many PRS, new skills and new found friendships!
Happy New Year!!
