Tricia has been a member at Newport Fitness since July 2018 and has participated in several of our challenges. She came in second place for one of those challenges! Coach Tony Bracket said: "Tricia def committed to her goals. Throwing in a spartan race to challenge herself and signing up for more cause she couldn’t get enough." Coach Megan McDonald stated that "Tricia is a badass and did a spartan race. She also is really diligent about stretching which we can all learn from."
1. What made you give Em's Fitcamp a try?
I gave Em's Fitcamp chance a try for two reasons 1. It was very close to where I live in Independence Kentucky and 2. because of the six or eight week challenge for $200 to lose weight and get in shape..I thought that was a great price to jumpstart my fitness plan.
Why I've stayed...is because I love the short varied work outs. I love being a part of a gym that the members and staff take their fitness and health seriously..that's a motivator!
The more seasoned members are warm and welcoming. The trainers are all knowledgeable, motivated, and positive! Time slots for work outs are multiple thru out the day..from 0530 to 645 p.m. Makes it easier to fit in working out into a busy work day/week.
2. What did you think after your first WOD?
I was dead at the end of my first WOD! Emily had to get me an elastic band to do simple sit ups.. it was hard core and tough!!
3. What has been your favorite Em's Fitcamp memory so far?
My favorite memory at Em's Fitcamp are really too numerous to count. Seriously! I have to list several
1st I was blown away at the banquet appreciation dinner, the family tight knit feel really just made you feel like home.
2nd Tony's warm up where he made every warm up named after some animal!! It was hard to warm up when you are laughing hysterically .
3rd July 4ths work out! Fun, tough, great camaraderie, and I loved we honored one of our soldiers! What a beginning to celebrate Independence day!
4. What is your favorite movement?
5. What is your least favorite movement?
6. Do you follow any specific diet?
My current diet regime is based off some literature I've been reading about endomorphs, women over 40, estrogen, and metabolism confusion. It's similar to a paleo diet.
7. What has been the biggest improvement you've seen from your training?
The improvements I see since joining the gym are stamina , speed , and strength..but , I'm still working to improve.
8. What advice do you have for beginners?
Advice for beginners: keep coming!!!! Consistency and continuity pay off!!! Do the modifications if you need to for injuries or mobility issues. Challenge yourself!
Oh , and don't take your work out equipment OFF THE RACKS ..until Tony says its TIME! LOL....
9. What are your goals for the future?
Spartan race Fort Cambell KY Oct 20th!!! And NOT do 600 burpees!!!
10. Any shout outs...Go for it!!
To Nick, Monica, and Jackie for your warm welcoming smiles and helpfulness!!
Megan. Although I haven't ever taken a class from her, she's always welcoming and cheerful!
Raquel, Christina, and Tony...bad ass trainers, who practice what they preach, are informative, engaged, connect with all the customers, focus on form and safety and make working out that much more fun with their words of encouragement and sense of humor!!
Super appreciative to Tony for his encouragement, AND EXPERTISE (and NOT laughter) with my first Spartan race. LOVE YOUR ANIMAL WARM UPS!!!
Also about Tony...I was one time telling him about my broken neck, 2 hip replacements , right ankle fix and replacement and I'm sure I was whining in self limiting pity and he says, "yea so"!? Initially, I was like kinda like well..poo on him..he just doesn't understand...lol.. But, after sitting on that and regurgitating it a bit. I'm like yea so what. I don't HAVE TO let my bionic parts limit me and I really appreciated his honesty . And push. Just maybe not at that time. I try to take All my classes when he's scheduled because well he just ROCKS!!
Congrats Tricia! We are glad to have you at Em's Fitcamp!
