Congrats to Mike, our December CrossFit Member of the Month!
How long have you been doing CrossFit? 3 years; about 6 months at NewCov (I wore a shirt that said "CrossFit" on it to my first class and told Coach Jenna I had some experience with CrossFit. She said, "I can tell from your shirt" (and I deserved that.)
What made you decide to try CrossFit? I started during the fall of 2020 in California when everything was locked down, but there was a CrossFit affiliate near me that was primarily outdoors so it was able to stay open. I was getting very tired of working out in my garage so I gave it a shot.
What did you think after your first workout? "I look forward to being this uncomfortable tomorrow."
What's your FAVORITE movement? Cleans, Box Jump overs, weighted carries
What's your LEAST favorite movement? Double unders, anything gymnastics... I'm getting better but I was not meant to be upside down or hanging from a bar
Any advice for those just getting started on their fitness journey? Just show up. It won't always be the most fun, but you'll be glad you did it. Also, take rest days.
Would you like to give any shout-outs to other members or coaches? Thanks to Coach Jenna, Coach Taylor and assistant to the Head Coach, Loki. You guys are always ready and keep things with a helpful cue and watching you manage a class of 30+ is always impressive. Shout out to my weekly dose of Coach Adam on Wednesdays for bringing a little madness to the proceedings (whoop whoop, you do you boo, and all the rest)
