Trista has been a member at Newport Fitness since January 2019. Newport Fitness Owner and Coach Emily Wagner said that "Trista is a dedicated Fitcamper. She recently hit the 100lb weight loss marker! She encouraged her husband, Jared, and son, Jack to join the gym to keep her support system close to her as she keeps her wight loss journey going. We love her positive and fun attitude."
1. What made you give Em's Fitcamp a try?
I decided to give Fitcamp a try after I came into discuss personal training. I had come off an injury and I was really nervous to hurt myself again. I had gained a lot of weight and been set back a lot. Emily told me to try Fitcamp and see if I liked it. They would help me with form. I tried it for the free week and loved it!
2. What did you think after your first WOD?
After the first class, I felt strong and tired and sweaty and ready for the next one
3. What has been your favorite Em's Fitcamp memory so far?
My favorite moment would be when my workout buddy (aka Jack, my 11 yo son) didn’t think he could do the sled push. He did it and afterwards told me how proud it made him feel!
4. What is your favorite movement?
Favorite is box jumps, because they make me feel young and powerful.
5. What is your least favorite movement?
I hate burpees.
6. Do you follow any specific diet?
My diet is based on getting in proper protein. I work with a dietician and my goal is to eat 60 to 80 grams of protein and drink about that in oz of water. It makes it pretty peaceful to just focus on one thing and mostly eat fruits and veggies to fill in the gaps.
7. What has been the biggest improvement you've seen from your training?
My biggest improvement is probably in core strength. I was able to do side planks for the first time this year!
8. What advice do you have for beginners?
My advice is to schedule your workouts. I look at my work schedule and plan my workouts before the week starts. I take my clothes with me if needed. I had to get really intentional about my time, so I could fit in working out with being a full time pharmacist, mom of two, and all the million other things.
9. What are your goals for the future?
My workout goal is to continue enjoying my workouts. I love that the change, but I know they are always going to push me! I might switch to the CrossFit side at some point, but I just want to get strong and feel healthy
10. Any shout outs...Go for it!!
Shout out to Raquel for being so encouraging, choosing great music, and making sure my form is on point! Shout out to Tony for joking around and being jealous that Raquel is the better trainer. Shout out to my husband, Jared, for working so hard to learn all the Crossfit stuff and support me on this journey. Lastly, to my son, Jack, for being so kind, fun, and encouraging as a workout partner! Love you fit fam!!
Congrats Trista! We are glad to have you at Em's Fitcamp!
