Congrats Karen, our June FitCamp Member of the Month!

How long have you been doing FitCamp?

Since last August

What made you decide to try FitCamp?

I went with Christy La Calemeto to a Saturday class and was hooked right away so I signed up for the 6 week challenge.

What did you think after your first workout?

Yikes-I’m even more out of shape than I realized! Since my kids are older, I was in a place in my life where I could prioritize going to a gym.

What's your FAVORITE movement? Can be a lift, a body weight movement, anything you've seen in a workout!

I like doing wall walks. I think it’s because I think they are challenging and I surprise myself every time I do one without falling on my face. I also like doing anything that improves my upper body strength.

What's your LEAST favorite movement?

The bike! I don’t mind the rower and the ski erg but I whine every time we bike.

Any advice for those just getting started on their fitness journey?

Just keep coming back. Make it part of your weekly routine. No matter how I feel before a class, afterwards I’m never sorry I came. Also don’t compare yourself to anyone else. When I started, I couldn’t even do one set of 20 ab mat sit-ups. Adam saw me struggling and told me to do crunches instead. I’ve hit so many personal milestones. I almost cried the first time my knee hit the ground consistently when doing lunges. Being able to do things that used to be too hard keeps me motivated.

Would you like to give any shout outs to other members or coaches?

Of course Christy for introducing me to this wonderful community. All the coaches are great. Megan for being so encouraging and always focusing on our form. And for not caring that I stink at mitts. Tim for helping me with my push-ups. And Adam for always having a great positive energy.
