You may have noticed our new logo above! Since we are operating two gyms in different cities (Newport & Ft Thomas), it no longer makes sense to use the name "Newport Fitness" or to use separate CrossFit affiliate names for administrative purposes. We have rebranded the general gym name to FITNKY which will offer the following "FIT" programs/classes:

​

  • Em's Fitcamp 

  • Em's Fitfest

  • Em's FitKids

  • Box FIT (formerly Boxing Bootcamp)

  • HitFIT (formerly High-Intensity Mix)

  • CrossFit (with the new affiliate name - NKY CrossFit for BOTH gyms)

​

Check out our new logos below! In the coming weeks, you will start to see the new logos appear on our social media, email, as well as a brand new website that will launch soon AND on the walls at the NKYFIT - Fort Thomas location (Formerly CrossFit SOTO). Eventually these logos will also be translated to the new Newport location once finalized. 

​

We will still preserve the former CrossFit Affiliate names (NewCov CrossFit and CrossFit SOTO) and their legacy/memory by framing banners of the logos at each of the gyms. It was a really tough decision to retire the names that have helped build our long standing communities, but ultimately decided that it is best for the future of the gym. We hope you enjoy the new fresh colors/logos and we will MERGE together as a new FIT community under one shared name :)

As we start the new year, we have made a few additions to the FITNKY staff! We are excited to have them join the team. Check out their bios below. â€‹

Generally, our coaching staff is built from within our community, so please feel free to reach out if you have any future ambitions for coaching!

Meet Jess Gulino! Starting in January, Jess will be helping to coach the 5AM and 6AM Shifts at our Fort Thomas location. 

​

"Hi, I’m Jess! I’ve never been a “sports/workout girl”. But a couple years ago, one of my friends was telling me about his new hobby, CrossFit. The thing that really impacted me was how his normal life seemed so much better and easier. And I thought “I wanna hike and enjoy it.” Immediately, I fell in love with the sense of community and togetherness CrossFit brings. And as someone new to the gym, I also loved the approachability of each WOD. 

​

As a new coach, I am excited to be an encouraging part of each athletes’ journey! I truly believe CrossFit can be for anyone and will add to your life, regardless of where you are starting out. 

​

Outside the gym, I’m a wife, mom and I am incredibly passionate about coffee. I work out so I can enjoy hiking, help friends move, keep up with my son, and (in the very very far future) be a strong grandma. I choose CrossFit because I’ve never felt more supported, encouraged and accepted in my fitness goals. 

I look forward to doing the same for you! "

Meet Jenn Lehan! Starting in January, Jenn will be helping us coach the 5AM and 6AM Shifts at our Ft Thomas location. 

​

"I’ve been doing CrossFit for over 10 years. I found it after graduating college, following a background as a collegiate swimmer. After years of structured, high-level training, I spent some time bouncing between different workout styles trying to find something that gave me the same mix of challenge, structure, and intensity. I eventually landed on CrossFit through a Groupon (not sure those even exist anymore), and it stuck. I loved the variety, the constant opportunity to learn, and the fact that no two days felt repetitive or boring.


I’ve been coaching since I was a teenager, starting with swim coaching for athletes of all ages and abilities. Coaching has always been about helping people build confidence, develop skills, and work toward goals in a way that’s challenging but sustainable. CrossFit also gave me the opportunity to compete again, and I’ve been fortunate to participate in some incredible events along the way with amazing people. At the end of the day, I’m grateful to still be moving, learning, and helping others do the same."

Welcome back to Coach Quel, who will be helping to coach a few evening classes at both locations starting next week. 

​

"As many of you know, I’m Coach Quel — or Coach Q (they/them). I walked into this gym in late 2016, fresh out of the Marine Corps, stripped of identity and needing community. Within my first week, I mentioned I was certified, and Emily hired me on the spot. What followed was six years of coaching, programming, head coaching, and general managing. I hold this place as sacred, and if you’re here, you will too.

While my path expanded into collegiate athletics and scientific research, this community never stopped being home. Today, alongside coaching, I am a full-time author and a PhD-bound scholar in philosophy, studying the mind, meaning, and what drives human resilience.

My coaching style is calculated, direct, and fiercely intentional. Details matter. Effort matters. My mind is grounded in science, but my heart belongs to humanity. I am a coach, yes — but first, I am an educator. My favorite athletes are the ones who demand me to become a student again. I will ask much of you, but never more than I demand of myself.

Let’s get to work. "

Announcing a NEW partnership with the Kentucky Barrels!

We are excited to announce our new partnership with the KY Barrels, Northern Kentucky's new arena football team! 

​

The Barrels will be training at out Fort Thomas facility starting in March! With this partnership comes lots of opportunities for fun social events. Stay tuned for more info!

Annual Anonymous Survey - DUE 12/31

It's time for our annual anonymous survey. Please take a minute to provide us feedback and suggestions. We do take time to read each and every survey. While we won't be able to implement all suggestions, we will do our best to make improvements for 2026. Our goal is to improve our member experience each and every year! Also, while we appreciate any constructive suggestions, we are also looking for positive testimonials that we can use for our website and socials.

​

NOTE: There is an important staff section where we ask you to rate the trainers. Please only rate them if you have had them AT LEAST twice as a coach. We do take time to review these ratings and comments with the staff and take all comments into consideration for yearly bonus and raise decisions. So please provide ALL feedback both negative and positive.

Upcoming Renovations

The renovations at the Fort Thomas location are almost complete! A few more things to come...

​

* On January 6th, the NKY CrossFit logo will be painted on the back wall. 

* We will be updating the lobby furniture soon.

* We will be adding back the trainer wall with updated pics/bios. 

* NOTE: we have decided to hold off on relocating the pull-up rig for now.
